The 102nd Intelligence Wing Judge Advocate General provides high-quality legal advice and support to eligible military members and their dependents. This assistance includes wills, powers of attorney, notary services and advice concerning a variety of civil legal matters. Additionally, we provide legal counsel to commanders on all matters affecting the installation and mission.

Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA)

The SCRA is a Federal law that provides certain protections for military members when they enter active duty. The goal of the Act is to allow servicemembers to perform their military duties without unnecessary distraction. Among other benefits, the Act including caps on interest rates, stays of certain civil legal proceedings, protection from eviction, and termination of leases and cell phone contracts without repercussions.

The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA)

USERRA protects service members' reemployment rights when returning from a period of service in the uniformed services, including those called up from the reserves or National Guard, and prohibits employer discrimination based on military service or obligation. Notably, USERRA covers nearly all employees, including part-time and probationary employees. USERRA applies to virtually all U.S. employers, regardless of size.

Military Justice

Military Justice involves JAGs assisting commanders in maintaining good order and discipline of Airmen through investigations and proper disposition of offenses, including nonjudicial punishment, litigation advice, prosecution of Airmen charged with violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and Administrative Separations/Boards of Inquiry.

Operational Law

Operational law refers to a range of legal and related policy issues directly affecting a commander's ability to plan, train, and conduct military operations. In this context, JAGs offer commanders advice on the law of war, rules of engagement, international agreements, counter-terrorism, rule of law, operational environmental law, information operations/cyber law, intelligence authorities and oversight, and humanitarian assistance/disaster relief.
