Col. Wendy S. Armijo is the Commander, 102 Intelligence Wing, Otis Air National Guard Base, Massachusetts. She is responsible for the activities of 1,260 military and civilian personnel prepared to respond to domestic emergencies in the Commonwealth while training and maintaining readiness to accomplish wartime missions of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) operations, cryptologic intelligence, cyber engineering and installation support, medical, and expeditionary combat support.
Col. Armijo received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Service from Baylor University. She was commissioned through the Reserve Officers Training Corps in 1997. A career intelligence officer, she began in the Pacific theater working unit-level intelligence then as an air analyst at HQ PACAF. In 2002 Col. Armijo transitioned to the ANG and continued to support multiple combat and ISR platforms. She has deployed in support of Operation NORTHERN WATCH, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and to the Republic of Korea for theater security cooperation. For her contributions, Col. Armijo was named Air Force Reserve Component Intelligence Officer of the Year. Colonel Armijo served a senior mission intelligence coordinator for remotely piloted aircraft in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, and she provided support to Operation UNIFIED RESPONSE, the hurricane relief effort in Haiti. She also qualified as a DGS mission operations commander. Col. Armijo served in multiple c-NAF roles in both AFSOUTH and AFCENT and was assigned to HQ USAF, where she advised the Deputy Chief of Staff for ISR on the organization, training, equipping, tasking, and mobilization of ANG ISR forces.
Col. Armijo has served as the deputy commander of the 102d ISR Group, Distributed Ground Station-Massachusetts, part of the Air Force’s Distributed Common Ground System enterprise. Prior to her current position, Col. Armijo was commander of the 202nd ISR Group performing global cryptologic missions enabling multi-domain operations by 16th Air Force/AFCYBER, USCYBERCOM, and the National Security Agency.
