The Zen Den: 102nd Intelligence Wing’s mental health center
Jill Garvin, 102nd Intelligence Wing (102nd IW) director of psychological health, poses for a photo in the Zen Den on Otis Air National Guard Base, Massachusetts, May 22, 2024. The Zen Den is a space within the 102nd IW where members can go for their mental wellness needs. “Some of the top stressors are financial anxiety and sleep and relationships, and so having a space where people can come in to decompress is great,” said Garvin. “I'm able to offer some psycho-educational tools. We can do some breathing and mindfulness here, and sometimes people just want to rest their bodies for a few minutes and calm their nervous system down. So I teach a lot about how our nervous system gets activated.” (Air National Guard photo by Airman 1st Class Julia Ahaesy)
