Colonel BRIAN P. McCAFFREY

Col. Brian McCaffrey is Commander of the 202nd Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Group, Otis ANGB, Massachusetts. He leads 193 Airmen performing intelligence analysis in support of 16th AF, USCYBERCOM, and the National Security Agency.

Col. McCaffrey entered the Air Force in June 2002 through ROTC at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. As a cyber and communications officer, he performed a variety of communications missions, including base communications at the 89th Communications Squadron, Andrews AFB, Maryland; support to intelligence operations at the 566th Intelligence Squadron, Denver, Colorado; and the air operations center weapon system at the 103rd Air Operations Group, Connecticut Air National Guard. He additionally served on the HQ ACC/A9L staff supporting major Air Force exercises. In 2010, Col. McCaffrey served as a communications advisor for the government of Iraq’s ministries of interior and defense while deployed at US Forces-Iraq J6.

Col. McCaffrey served as the final commander of the 267th Combat Communications Squadron. Following the inactivation of the 267th CBCS, he attended intelligence officer training and became the director of operations and later the commander for the 202nd Intelligence Support Squadron. Prior to his current assignment, Col. McCaffrey was the deputy commander of the 253rd Cyberspace Engineering Installation Group.
