Telework Resources for 102IW Employees

The following resources are available to 102IW members to enable them to work from home.

We have divided this resource list into two categories: members using personal computers and members using government computers.

NOTE: CAC Readers required for all teleworking

TELEWORK SOLUTIONS FOR PERSONAL COMPUTER USE

OUTLOOK WEB ACCESS (OWA)

Outlook Web Access allows members using personal computers with a CAC reader to access their enterprise (military) email via their home network.

NOTE: For best results Internet Explorer is the preferred browser

  • Open your browser and navigate to https://web.mail.mil/owa
  • When prompted for credentials select the PIV (authentication) certificate, the one that’s sixteen digits in length (E.G. 1234567890127004@mil)
  • Once authenticated, you will be given a direct link which you can save to favorites for faster navigating.
  • Follow that link and you will be brought to your email inbox.

NOTE: Encrypted emails (sending + receiving) will be unavailable unless S/MIME is installed

To install S/MIME within OWA, go to options  → see all options settings S/MIME download the S/MIME control

DESKTOP ANYWHERE

The following information was received from the Air Force Portal. NOTE: This resource allows you to access a virtual desktop on your personal computer. CAC and CAC READER REQUIRED!!!

Desktop-as-a-Service (aka Desktop Anywhere) now available. A Secure, remotely accessible, virtualized desktop - a breakthrough capability in the Air Force enabling users to securely access critical apps and data via their personal computers (Windows and Mac) from around the world with commercial internet connection and a CAC. Provides a rich remote user experience with the same look and feel of the user's AF physical computer - including the same Unified Collaboration capabilities!

All download instructions for Windows and Mac are available in the Attachment section of this area. Written instructions are kept up to date to reflect process changes caused by application or operating system updates. 

Ensure with Windows you download the ActivClient Installer and follow the Desktop Anywhere Windows Installation Guide.

HQ AFRC CFP phone support is available weekdays 0730-1700 to provide account and network support at comm (478) 327-1999 or DSN 497-1999.
HQ AFRC CFP is unable to provide assistance for issues concerning personal computers but we are able to help correct account and session issues. (e.g. hung sessions that cause .ost errors)

MCCC limited support is available after hours for account and network status only at comm (478) 327-1783 or DSN 497-1783.
Some account and session issues can be corrected but MCCC will create a ticket for CFP to resolve during normal business hours.

TELEWORK SOLUTIONS FOR GOVERNMENT COMPUTER USE

VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK (VPN)

If you have been identified by your leadership as approved for telework, you need to coordinate with your local CST and accomplish the necessary VPN paperwork and CBTs.

Please contact the CFP if you require any assistance with this process.

NOTE: VPN software bust be installed prior to use.

INSTALLING VPN:

  • Open the START menu and type “software”, open the Software Center desktop app shown.
  • Under the applications tab select Cisco AnyConnectInstall

USING VPN:

  • Once you are logged in to your government laptop, you must connect to a wired or wireless network.
  • After you verify network connection status, navigate to your toolbar and select the up arrow to show hidden icons
  • Click on the Cisco AnyConnect Icon to launch the VPN program (you can hover your mouse over the icons to display the names)

Select VPN 2connect

  • When prompted for credentials select your signature certificate.
  • Once you are connected you should be able to access outlook and the network drives as normal.
