Airman in the Spotlight: Senior Airman Jonathan Cote Published Sept. 11, 2012 By Senior Airman Patrick McKenna 102nd Intelligence Wing Public Affairs OTIS AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Mass. -- Senior Airman Jonathan Cote temporarily joined the 102nd Communications Flight (102 CF), May 1 to Aug. 30, 2012, to complete required upgrade training in order to attain the next skill level in his career field. "I needed to do my upgrade training and two noncommissioned officers here reached out to me saying they'd help," said Cote, a native of Walpole, Mass. "Since I arrived, I've completed all core requirement tasks and passed my two-part final exam with scores of 93 and 90." Cote had a positive experience with the 102 CF, and says that while he isn't a permanent part of the unit, that didn't stop him from working well with the other Airmen in the shop. "It's been really great working with these guys," Cote said. "They are a very knowledgeable team and whenever I had a question they had the answer. It's been a great experience." Cote served with the Massachusetts Army National Guard, deploying twice to Iraq, before joining the Air Force Reserve. His experiences throughout his military career have given him a focused approach to attaining his personal goals. "I'd like to progress in my career and promote to staff sergeant," Cote said. "I'm also working on my certification to become a Cisco certified network associate. Once I have that, I'll aim to become a network professional and receive a Microsoft certification for networking." Cote's desire is to continue pursuing more certifications and higher levels of training with goals of a career in information technology or computer science. He's been a valuable part of the 102 CF which provides planning, equipment, infrastructure and customer support services that meet and exceed Air Force standards to provide mission critical and operational cyber communications to each organizational mission on the Massachusetts Military Reservation. In his short time here, he's impressed his supervisors and coworkers with both his work ethic and his personal demeanor. "As an Airman, Cote has been very ambitious and willing to learn his Air Force job skills," said Master Sgt. Joe Richardson, 102 CF Cyber Transport Systems Infrastructure technician. "He picks things up quite well and is able to show he can apply what he has learned skillfully to any task." In his off time, Cote enjoys spending time with his wife and their two year old son. He's also an avid precision shooter, both powder burning and air rifle shooting. Cote has returned to his Air Force Reserve unit, the 439th Airlift Control Flight at Westover Air Reserve Base, Mass.
