PUBLIC NOTICE OF DEMOLITION AT OTIS AIR NATION GUARD BASE

  • Published

The Massachusetts Air National Guard’s (MAANG) 102nd Intelligence Wing (102 IW) and the National Guard Bureau (NGB) is proposing to demolish one building located at Otis Air National Guard Base, Massachusetts.

Building 322, historically known as Williams Hospital, was constructed in 1936 and served as the base hospital for many years. Building 322 has been renovated over the years as its functions changed from hospital, to Judge Advocate General and Military Police offices, to office areas for the military program “Prime BEEF” and Vocational Training. The building is currently occupied by the IRP. Due to Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) actions, changes to the 102nd Intelligence Wing’s mission, and safety concerns with building integrity, Building 322 is to be demolished and the area returned to improved lawn.

The MA ANG is consulting with the Massachusetts State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP), and also invites public comment on the proposed demolition.
